Being a healthcare provider is an incredibly humbling and wonderful opportunity. To be able to be with people through some of the most challenging experiences of their lives is quite a privilege. But it is also hard. In fact it can be terrifying. I have not had one day in the past 19 years when I have gone into work without some element of fear. We never know what will come through the doors.  It may be someone who suffered a terrible accident, a dying child, a violent patient, or someone with undiagnosed cancer.
